I finished a custom messenger bag-style diaper bag for my expectant friend while I was in Chicago last month. It has all the best diaper bag features and the result was lovely! Working on it was sort of a pre-quel to the new line of recycled handbags that I’ll be releasing this winter, just in time for the holidays!
In the meantime, check out the awesomest diaper bag ever!

Messenger-style diaper bag- Outside. This brown fabric is made in the USA with non-toxic dyes.

The diaper bag has a zipped pocket in back large enough to hold notebooks, folders, or magazines, to keep grown-up stuff separate from baby gear. The strap is wide and adjustable for comfort.

The diaper bag is lined in laminated cotton, so the entire interior is wipe-clean in case of messes.

The interior has 6 elastic pockets to keep everything organized and secure. The green ribbon has a clip for attaching keys, and is long enough so that the keys can stay on while you unlock your door. The smaller side straps shown here clipped into loops are for hanging the bag from stroller handles.

The best feature of all- a built-in, refillable wipes container right under the flap, for super-easy diaper changes on the go!

I also included this bonus Changing Pad Clutch that fits inside the diaper bag. It's a changing pad that velcros around a few diapers to make changing a lot easier.

The changing pad clutch is quilted and lined in organic cotton sherpa, a super soft material.
I had so much fun making this bag and figuring out all of the snazzy features to make my friend’s life a little easier when the baby comes next month. Look forward to my new line of eco-friendly handbags in time for the holidays!
I based the dimensions for the diaper bag off of this wonderful tutorial, and the Changing Pad Clutch is a variation of these fantastic, easy to follow instructions. Let me know what you think!
